چکیده

This paper extends dynamic symbolic execution to distributed and concurrent systems. Dynamic symbolic execution is used to systematically identify equivalence classes of input values and has been shown to scale well to large systems. Although mainly applied to sequential programs, this scalability makes it interesting to consider the technique in the distributed and concurrent setting as well. In order to extend the technique to concurrent systems, it is necessary to obtain su cient control over the scheduling of concurrent activities to avoid race conditions. Creol, a modeling language for distributed concurrent objects, solves this problem by abstracting from a particular scheduling policy but explicitly de ning scheduling points. This provides su cient control to apply the technique of dynamic symbolic of interleaved processes. The technique has been formalized in rewriting logic and executes

A system for compositional verification of asynchronous objects

We present a semantics, calculus, and system for compositional verification of Creol, an object-oriented modeling language for concurrent distributed applications. The system is an instance of KeY, a framework for object-oriented software verification, which has so far been applied foremost to sequential Java. Building on KeY characteristic concepts, like dynamic logic, sequent calculus, symbol...

Conformance Testing of Distributed Concurrent Systems with Executable Designs

This paper presents a unified approach to test case generation and conformance test execution in a distributed setting. A model in the object-oriented, concurrent modeling language Creol is used both for generating test inputs and as a test oracle. For test case generation, we extend Dynamic Symbolic Execution (also called Concolic Execution) to work with multi-threaded models and use this to g...

Towards Symbolic Execution in Erlang

The concurrent functional language Erlang [1] has a number of distinguishing features, like dynamic typing, concurrency via asynchronous message passing or hot code loading, that make it especially appropriate for distributed, faulttolerant, soft real-time applications. The success of Erlang is witnessed by the increasing number of its industrial applications. For instance, Erlang has been used...
